INTERMEDIA 28 is a trio of artists living in Madrid, Spain, who are committed to collective creation in real time. They employ photography, video, electronic, electro-acoustic and acoustic music, field recordings, and objects to create works that change with every performance. Their latest piece, Pedroñeras, is a feast of sounds, colors, images, voices and music in constant evolution—a grand collage of sensations and noises, memories and surprises filled with the heat of July in La Mancha and the voices and faces of its anonymous protagonists.

“In July of 2007, Spanish photographer Adam Lubroth and composer/improviser and electro-acoustician Wade Mathews travelled to the town of Las Pedroneras in the Spanish province of Cuenca to sonically and visually document the most important moment of the year for the Garlic Capital of Spain: the purple garlic harvest.

There they captured the voices and images of Framers, factory workers, villagers, and immigrant labourers from Rumania and North Africa, as well as the sounds and colours of the harvest and of daily life in the village. With the participation of improvising guitarist and architect, Julio Camarena, son of the renowned folklorist of the same name, they began to make Pedroneras, an interpretation that goes beyond a simple portrait of this tradition.”
